As a resource, it has been used by villagers/people for thousands of years for feeding animals, in construction or for interior decorating. One of the most distinctive features of the houses in the Danube Delta - their roofs made out of reed. Harvesting reed has been acknowledged as one of the most widely spread occupations among the people of the Delta.
