Pattern Description:
This magnificent wallpaper of tropical flora and lush greenery has been beautifully reworked from an original carpet design, held in the archives of the V&A in South Kensington. The sumptuously thick ink coverage and beautiful hand-painted effect that characterise surface printing provide the perfect medium to recreate the richness and artistry of the highly patterned original. Surface printing, a heritage technique pioneered in 1838 and continued in our Lancashire factory today, brings another level of character and depth to the wallpaper.
Elegant and timeless, classic blues are always a firm favourite in interiors and this calming dusky Blue Hue is very much in vogue.
Available in 5 colours: Forest, Blue Hue, Clay brown, Sage and Natural
Palmette Archive Inspiration: Design for a carpet, George W. Kingman (1846–94), Kidderminster, Worcestershire, about 1870
Crafted by textile designer George Kingman in Kidderminster—a historic hub of British carpet production—this pattern embodies a rich tradition dating back to the 1730s. Kingman’s work, characterised by rich colours, intricate patterns and an eclectic blend of inspiration from history, art and nature, continues to resonate in contemporary design, creating a dynamic celebration of maximalism.
