1902

Samuel Kravet, a tailor from Russia, arrives in the United States and starts tailoring for New York City's wealthy community.

1918

S.Kravet & Sons is founded with Samuel Kravet's four sons — Morris, Sam, Sol and Hy — selling fabric and trimmings to the interior design trade.

1938

The first corporate showroom opens in Manhattan servicing the interior design trade.

1949

Samuel's grandson, Mr. Larry Kravet, enters the business.

1960

S. Kravet & Sons becomes Kravet Fabrics, Inc. with a showroom in New York.

1963

Corporate office and warehouse is built in Woodbury, New York.  During the 1960's, Kravet Fabrics’ distribution expands through a national showroom network and international distributors.

1980

During the 1980's, the fourth generation of the Kravet familyenters the business — Cary, Lisa, Scott and Ellen Kravet. New warehouses are opened in Bethpage, New York and Anderson, South Carolina to meet the increased business demands.

1990

During the 1990’s, Kravet expands its influence in the hospitality and healthcare markets with a new brand, Kravet Contract.

1992

Kravet launches an upholstered furniture division, Kravet Furnitureto support the expanded fabric business.

1993

Kravet establishes a licensing division featuring four categories: interior designers, fashion icons, historical properties and lifestyles. Inaugural collections include esteemed designer Mark Hamptonand the prestigious Smithsonian Museum.

1995

Kravet acquires Lee Jofa, a high end fabric brand with a rich heritage dating back to1823 founded by Arthur H. Lee. Groundworks, GP&J Baker and Mulberry Home are distributed brands under the Lee Jofa offering.

1998

Kravet signs a long term licensing agreement with the UK fashion brand Mulberry Home.

2001

Kravet acquires GP & J Baker, a UK company founded in 1884 bringing with it one of the largest and most exciting privately held archive of decorative textiles in the UK.

2004

GP & J Baker opens a showroom in London, as well as an office and warehouse in Poole, England to service both UK and international distribution.

2005

Kravet launches furnishings categories including carpet, lighting, bedding and decorative hardware.

Kravet Fabrics becomes Kravet Inc. to encompass all brands and product categories. 

2009

Kravet Smart, a value driven brand, is introduced with product categories including fabrics, trimmings, furniture and carpet.

Through Lee Jofa, Kravet begins distributing Blithfield, a company known for its extensive range of colorful and beautifully inspired printed and woven designs.

2011

Kravet Inc. acquires Brunschwig & Fils, the distinguished high-end distributor of to the trade home textiles, trimmings, wallcoverings and furniture, known for its rich French history dating back to 1891.

2012

By 2012, Kravet has established 35 corporate showrooms, 50 agent showrooms, and sales representatives that visit customers worldwide.

Sara Kravet, first member of the fifth generation joins the company.

Kravet begins distributing Gaston y Daniela, a luxury textile company based in Spain.

2013

Kravet begins exclusively distributing Winfield Thybonywallcoverings in North America.

2014

Sander Kravet, second member of the fifth generation, joins the company.

Through Brunschwig & Fils, Kravet begins distributing Creations Metaphores, a contemporary brand of high-end upholstery fabrics, and Jagtar, a renowned textile house that specializes in silk.

2015

Kravet launches CuratedKravet.com, a to the trade e-commerce provider of finished product ready for immediate shipment.

2016

Kravet begins distributing Andrew Martin, a company known for its eclectic, multilayered and easy-living style of furnishings.

2017

Daniel Kravet, third member of the fifth generation, joins the company as the Kravet family continues its legacy.

2018

Kravet Inc. celebrates its 100th year anniversary in business with exciting new offerings, advanced technology and a firm commitment to being the primary resource for fabrics and furnishings to the interior design trade.
